Jorge Letona is a graphic designer from Guatemala who has achieved international recognition, especially for his collaboration with the famous band Iron Maiden. In 2015, Letona designed the typeface Hunab-Ku, inspired by Mayan hieroglyphics, which was used in Iron Maiden's album "The Book of Souls." His work was reflected not only in the album's artwork but also on the band's plane, bringing the cultural essence of Guatemala to a global audience.
In addition to this project, Letona has worked on various initiatives that reflect his innovative approach and commitment to Guatemalan culture. His portfolio includes designs for music albums, visual identities, and editorial projects. For instance, he collaborated on the design of the album Photon Belt by Guatemalan DJ Alex Hentze, a project that explores the theory of cosmic radiation and its impact on the evolution of existence. And has worked on other high-profile design projects and continues to develop his career, always staying true to his cultural roots.
Letona has been leading "CREO Estudio de DiseƱo" in Mixco, Guatemala, since March 2002, where he has developed a wide range of projects recognized for their creativity and conceptual depth. His work has gained international recognition and was highlighted as one of the 19 benchmark designers in Latin America by the blog 25-horas.
